2 Stentless Angioplasty/ Metal less PCI( Percutaneous Coronary Intervention)
We have done 2 Stentless Angioplasty/ Metal less PCI( Percutaneous Coronary Intervention) in our centre ( 1 st time in this district )with Drug Eluting balloon in the last few days.
Drug-eluting balloons (DEBs) are primarily used to treat restenosis, especially in-stent restenosis (ISR) and de novo lesions, particularly in smaller vessels and situations where avoiding a stent is preferred. DEBs offer a way to deliver medication locally to the vessel wall to prevent re-narrowing after angioplasty. Specific Indications for DEBs: In-stent restenosis (ISR): DEBs are particularly useful in treating restenosis that occurs within previously implanted stents, especially bare-metal stents (BMS). De novo lesions: DEBs can be used to treat new blockages in coronary arteries, especially in situations where stent implantation is not ideal, like in small vessels or bifurcation lesions. Small vessel disease: DEBs are a good option when dealing with smaller coronary arteries where stent placement might be challenging or less optimal. Bifurcation lesions: In cases where a blockage occurs at a branch point of a coronary artery, DEBs can be used to avoid stenting both branches. Acute myocardial infarction (AMI): DEBs can be used in the setting of acute heart attacks, particularly when a stent is not immediately necessary. Femoropopliteal occlusive disease: DEBs are also used in the peripheral arteries, such as the femoropopliteal arteries, to treat blockages in the legs. High bleeding risk patients: DEBs may be preferred over DES in patients who cannot tolerate long-term dual antiplatelet therapy, according to some studies.
